A little more certainty.
You can’t predict every change. You can explore another citizenship so your future isn’t built around only one option.
You don’t have to leave Australia to want another option. Explore Vanuatu citizenship and give your future a little more room.
A private conversation. No pressure to make a move.

A second citizenship.
A choice that’s yours.
PREPARED, NOT PESSIMISTIC
You’ve worked hard to build a good life. Wanting another option doesn’t change that. A second citizenship is about thinking ahead, keeping perspective and making decisions on your own terms.
You can’t predict every change. You can explore another citizenship so your future isn’t built around only one option.
Keep the life you’ve built in Australia. A Plan B is about another possibility—not a decision to pack your bags today.
Consider an option for your partner and children, with family application categories and a plan shaped around your circumstances.
Citizenship is an additional legal status—not a guarantee of border access, personal safety or financial protection.
EFATE, VANUATUMEET YOUR OTHER OPTION
The Vanuatu Development Support Program is a government-established citizenship pathway for eligible applicants who make a qualifying contribution and pass the required checks.
For Australians, the appeal isn’t a replacement for an Australian passport. It’s the possibility of another citizenship, in a Pacific country, as part of a considered contingency plan.
A contribution pathway, not a refundable investment.
Not an all-in quote. Published FIU due-diligence fee: US$5,000; application fee: VT5,000. Professional, passport, travel and other costs may apply. Confirm current fees in writing.
Is Vanuatu right for me?A clear-eyed view of travel. Vanuatu passport holders require visas for the UK and EU/Schengen. A second citizenship does not automatically change your Australian tax residence.
FROM CURIOSITY TO CLARITY
No rushed decisions. No shortcuts around due diligence. Understand the pathway before deciding if it’s right for you.
Discuss your goals, family and timeframe. Understand whether the DSP deserves a closer look.
Confirm eligibility, verify provider authorisation and review a written fee breakdown before preparing documents.
Your application undergoes due diligence and government review. Approval is never guaranteed.
If approved, complete the required payments, oath in Vanuatu and passport formalities.
The Act sets a three-month Commission decision period from receipt of a DSP application—not a guaranteed passport-delivery timeline. Preparation, screening, the oath and passport steps can take longer.
CONFIDENCE COMES FROM CLARITY
A serious decision deserves transparent information. These are the standards to expect before you commit.
Check the provider’s current DSP authorisation directly with the Vanuatu Citizenship Office before signing or paying.
Eligibility, identity and source-of-funds checks matter. The government—not a sales provider—decides approval.
Only the essentials are requested at enquiry stage. No passport scans, financial documents or unnecessary marketing consent.
CLARITY BEFORE COMMITMENT
You don’t need to be an expert. You just need a clear picture of your options.
Ask about your situationNo. Considering a second citizenship does not mean deciding to relocate. You can explore a contingency option while continuing your life in Australia. Application formalities are different: current Vanuatu Citizenship Office guidance requires overseas applicants to travel to Vanuatu to complete the oath. Confirm the passport and biometric requirements for your case.
Australia permits dual nationality, and Vanuatu recognises dual citizenship. Your individual circumstances still matter. Dual nationals can face obligations in both countries and limits on Australian consular assistance while in their other country of citizenship. Use an Australian passport to enter and leave Australia, and obtain independent advice where needed.
Principal applicants are generally adults aged 18 or over with full legal capacity, subject to the Citizenship Act, current DSP regulations, documentation requirements, due diligence and Citizenship Commission approval. Applications for children under 18 must be made by a responsible parent or lawful guardian. A preliminary discussion is not an eligibility determination, and meeting a baseline condition does not guarantee approval.
The DSP has published contribution categories for married couples and couples with children. Inclusion depends on the applicable dependency and eligibility rules. Each applicant may need documentation and screening. Request a written, itemised family quote rather than assuming the single-applicant amount includes dependants.
The Citizenship Office publishes USD 130,000 for a single applicant, USD 150,000 for a married couple, USD 165,000 for a couple with one child, and USD 180,000 for a couple with two children. The published FIU due-diligence fee is USD 5,000, with a separate VT 5,000 application fee. Other professional, passport, travel, banking and administrative costs may apply. USD 130,000 is not an all-inclusive quote. Confirm current fees in writing.
The Citizenship Act sets a three-month Commission decision period from receipt of a DSP application. This is not a guaranteed end-to-end passport delivery timeline. Document preparation, enhanced due diligence, oath arrangements, passport formalities and individual circumstances can extend the overall process.
Not automatically. Citizenship, residence and tax residence are distinct. A Vanuatu passport does not itself end Australian tax residence or remove Australian reporting, tax or other legal obligations. Seek independent Australian and Vanuatu legal and tax advice before making decisions.
No. Vanuatu nationals require a visa to visit the United Kingdom, and the European Union has ended Vanuatu’s visa exemption. Do not rely on historic UK or Schengen visa-free claims. Entry rules can change and depend on the passport you use and your circumstances. This is a citizenship contingency option, not a promise of greater travel access than an Australian passport.
Applicants must meet current program requirements, provide supporting documents and undergo financial intelligence and due-diligence screening. The Vanuatu Citizenship Commission makes the approval decision; a provider cannot guarantee it. Verify the provider’s current DSP authorisation directly with the Citizenship Office before signing an agreement or making any payment.
YOUR NEXT STEP DOESN’T HAVE TO BE A BIG ONE
You don’t need to be ready to move. You don’t even need to be certain a second citizenship is for you. Start by understanding what’s possible.
